I've been thinking I'd like to get one of these. I like that it has the 1911 grip frame angle, that it is .22 and that the grip panels have greater girth than the old style .22/45. What I don't like is the lock or that it takes different magazines than the MKII. Still, it should last the rest of my life. Then again, do I need another .22 LR pistol?

    Mom bought one of these, and she really likes it. My son put in a Volquartsen trigger, hammer and sear for her, and she can really rip off a string of ten shots fast now. Mom is 79, and the slide release button was hard for her to operate, so when EJ replaced the trigger related parts he took out the detent for the slide release. You can now slingshot the bolt down, and roll the pistol upside down, pull the bolt back and release it, and it stays back. It is much easier for anyone to operate this way. We kept the magazine safety as-is.
    Mom's 22/45 never fails with CCI Mini-Mags, but she has been shooting Rem Golden Bullets so she gets a malfunction every few mags, just for malf practice.

    A number of people have commented about the stiff bolt release. Yours is the first I've heard of removing the detent most seem to simple extend the release for greater mechanical advantage.

    I know that Ruger would not approve, but it makes operation of the gun much easier. Clearing a mis-feed is faster when you can roll the gun on its back to lock the slide back instead of pushing up on the release or inserting an empty mag. It is also quicker and easier to make the gun empty and open so you can go forward of the firing line.
